As we move forward in the creation of Newcastlewest Books, we're finding that there's a great deal of housekeeping that needs to take place before launch.
Using three sets of eyes, we'll go over every single letter on every single page of the proof copy, to make sure that nothing was lost or changed as it traveled through the ether from one computer to another.
Someone has to make sure the pages are correctly numbered. Sound tedious? It is. But's it's necessary if the books we'll publish are to be of high quality from prose to print style.
The cover art is spectacular, and the image really conveys the sense of isolation and solitude that underlies much of the narrative. Just looking at the cover is a thrill, enough excitement to fire up the enthusiasm to tackle the biggest project we've every taken on.
So it's back to the trenches, to verify that all is as it should be.
In the meantime, you can preview the novel here.
Then we'll take the next step on this rocky road to publication. Descriptions for catalogs have to be written, though none of us have much confidence in our salesmanship.
After all, we've had little or no luck attracting literary agents's attention through the sales pitch in our various queries.
Here's hoping what the reading public is looking for is what we're able to represent.
