An Agent Returns

Way back, in another time, I sent an e-mail query to Rupert Heath when his name turned up on Agent Query. With that sort of publicity, the man was inundated with queries and he had to call a halt.

Since then, the Agent Query website must have removed his listing, because his name does not show up in the search function. Where did I find him again? He has a google ad running on the
Writers Net website.

Not one to trust an agent from a Google ad, but Mr. Heath was a legitimate agent when last I queried, and he is listed as recommended by the watchdogs. With nothing to lose, I clicked on the ad and was sent to
a bare bones place. Starts right up with the published authors, and that's the sign of the real deal, especially when you can easily verify the reality through a stroll along Amazon's search path.

The site has changed somewhat since my first query attempt - a request for sample pages that was rejected fairly quickly. A caveat has been added, that Mr. Heath cannot respond to everyone. And so, once again, a very busy agent has issued the warning, that his 'no response' is a 'no, thank you' and that's the end of it.

You'll be left wondering if your query was caught in a spam filter. You'll fear that the query did not actually arrive in the mailbox. You'll send it again and again. Maybe a new title, new character names, revised query, but you will send it over and over because you just never quite know for sure, do you?
