No Longer Eligible

Sorry, ladies, but another bachelor has taken the plunge. The fast-moving Michael Flatley has gotten married (again -- he got famous and dumped the first wife). By all accounts, it was a lovely wedding.

They were wed at St. Patrick's church in Fermoy, where Mr. Flatley has a multi-million euro estate. Riverdance and Lord of the Dance sure paid off handsomely, wouldn't you say? The man was not only single for a time, but he was phenomenally wealthy and single. Sure and the women were throwing themselves at his feet. Dangerous, that, what with his quick stepping and high kicking.

Niamh O'Brien, the blushing bride, was in Badgley-Mischka. The ivory beaded gown was exquisitely paired with a vintage lace veil, while her bridesmaids were dressed in navy. They say her dress cost around 100,000 euro, and no one's talking about the attendants. Can you imagine the hissing that would ensue if they were expected to come up with that kind of money for a dress they'd wear once and then turn over to the needy? Considering the fact that bride and groom were ferried about in his new Rolls Royce, it would be safe to assume that himself pitched in financially.

Mammy, Daddy, the sisters and the brother all came over from Chicago for the big bash. The bride's family, being local, did not have so far to go. They were serenaded by music that was composed for the occasion by Mr. Ronan Hardiman, and Father Aidan Troy of peace activist fame did the honors. A grand reception followed at Mr. Flatley's digs, with music provided by The Chieftains. Guests dined on roast boar and roast beef, a nice Chicago touch by a lad who could smell the old Union Stockyards as a child.

No gifts, please, but the couple did ask that donations be made to charities instead of them who have more than they need. And they sent a layer of the wedding cake off to St. Patrick's hospital in Fermoy, to be cut up amongst the patients. At least those who don't suffer from diabetes, I would hope.

Sadly, my invitation must have gone missing in the post and I missed the entire affair. Wonder if Colin Farrell is thinking of making it legal?
