All it takes is money. Something that the average author-in-training is lacking.
But if you have the ready cash, you could win a critique of your fiction, YA manuscript, poem, or illustration, and it all goes to a more worthy cause than your neighborhood bar.
Literary journal Hunger Mountain is raising funds to support the Vermont College of Fine Arts. They've rounded up a trove of authors and literary agents to do the work. All you have to do is head on over to Ebay and put in your bid.
If you've ever wanted literary agents Erin Murphy or Jill Corcoran to look at your work and analyze it for you, to give you some direction on where your YA or MG writing should be heading, this is your chance.
Maybe one of the author-volunteers is someone whose writing you admire. Imagine what it would be like to have that person critique your manuscript.
Go check under the sofa cushions for loose change and hundred dollar bills and have at it.
